Now that I have established a minimally invasive neurosurgery service at SHIFA International Hospital Islamabad, I am focusing on teaching and training my trainees.
This has been possible thanks to the dedication of theatre staff and the anaesthetic team at SHIFA. Minimally invasive surgeries have brought with them new instruments, endoscopes, neuronavigation and latest surgical techniques. Even the positioning of patients had to be adjusted.
I strongly believe in supervising my trainees until they are confident in performing a procedure. Having practiced neurosurgery in 3 continents , it’s now time to make sure minimally invasive neurosurgery takes a hold in this region.
My trainee performing neuronavigation guided endoscopic cranial surgery one of a few female neurosurgical trainees in the country.
